The Barocco Series (2012-2014)

I find inspiration in the gestures of Baroque sculptures and paintings. I reference works by Artemisia Gentileschi, Bernini, and Caravaggio. Not only have these artworks influenced my work, but literature also inspires the theatrical settings such as plays by Shakespeare and Greek dramas. I am exploring the idea of staged narratives as I research the works done in classical and revival periods of time. In the process, I arrange subjects with subtle movements and gestures. The staging process involves strong contrast lighting on the models in order to create theatrical drama to work from.
